I’ve been trying to reinstall a 2D CAD program called Solid Edge made by Siemens that I had on my computer before. I was having technical problems with it and the Tech help told me to uninstall and reinstall a “clean” version. Working with the Tech, at first we couldn’t get it to uninstall even though the software didn’t show up in Programs & Features. I tried the MS Fixit solution without success. I than downloaded Advanced Uninstaller PRO 11 and tried it.
It gave a bunch of Registry entries to consider deleting which I bypassed. Then it gave me the program folders to do likewise. I chose to delete them all. The Tech than gave me Registry entries to delete. At this point, we felt we had successfully removed the software. We than tried to download a “clean” version.
The installation wizard got as far as selecting the folder name and location and related info. But once OK’d, we would get a message that the wizard was interrupted. No further info was provided.
We tried this with and without my security software on and off. We tried to create new folder on the root to save it instead of letting the wizard chose. Nothing helped.
We continue to get the same message. Thanks, Ron Latour. Hey Ronald, I would advise you to run this Microsoft Fixit once again to make sure all the files and registry entries of the program are removed before we proceed with the installation. Download and run the Fixit. When prompted, select the option: Detect Problems and apply the fixes for me (Recommended).
Select Uninstalling, locate Solid Edge and uninstall it. Once done, restart the system. Once you have made sure that all the entries of the software have been removed, and then try to install the software. Right click on all Application file (.exe) in SolidEdge Folder, then choose the Tab Compatibility, Set: Windows Vista or Previous Windows, also choose Run as Administrator. For reference: Let us know if this information is helpful.
Microsoft Desktop Support Engineer. Kevin, I've done a. Already twice.
We can't find any SE files/folders or registry entries that shouldn't be there any longer. So I can't find it with Fixit to uninstall. I ran Fixit for both uninstall problems twice initially and than again for install problems. Solid Edge is not an old program not written for Windows 7. It is constantly updated and is an industry 3D tool (like AutoCad) that I use the free 2D version of. I've been using it for years up until recently when it became corrupted for some reason. That is why we are trying to uninstall/reinstall hoping it will solve the problem.
The Siemens Tech and I are in constant contact via phone and email. If I had a Windows disc, maybe I'd try uninstalling/reinstalling Windows. Thanks, Ron Ronald W Latour. I have the same problem with another software named ETAP.While it was getting uninstalled I stopped the process as i had some other work.I tried uninstalling after sometime but an error is coming'1628-Failed to complete'.After seeing this i deleted the folder from C.Then i saw it was still there in the list of uninstall or change program and the same message was being displayed. I used MS fixit but it is not locating that software and as it was a demo version so i don't know the 38 character product code.
Please help me uninstalling it.

When I install Solid Edge everything goes find but in the end Removing temporary files used just keeps loading. I ended setup process and Solid Edge works fine, but now if I try to install any other appliaction its says: Another install process is paused, and it then it gives me option to remove solid edge or close setup of new application. I have tried running in vista sp1 mode, as administrator, but still the same, so is there any way to somehow end the install. Thanks EDIT: Nevermind, I'm gona roll back to vista, too many problems. It works well. You can see: a piece of cake! Similar help and support threads Thread Forum I recently noticed a problem with my cursor. When I move the mouse so that the cursor goes to the right edge of my screen, it doesn't stop at the right edge like it does when I move it to the left edge. The cursor will move far beyond the right edge and then I have to move the mouse the same.
Hardware & Devices Hi, not sure where to post this. It seems fine; however, one thing that annoys me is that my photographs, when in screensaver mode, are not Edge to edge and have about an inch and a half thick black bar at each side.
